A briefing was held on the awarding of the “Daryn” State Youth Prize and the “Generation of Independence” grant

Today, a briefing was held at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding the awarding of the “Daryn” State Youth Prize and the “Generation of Independence” grant.

At the event, the Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Family Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kairat Kambarov; Chairman of the national youth organization “Assembly of Youth” and laureate of the “Daryn” State Prize, Timur Zhumyrbayev; as well as the author of the “TALAPAI” project and recipient of the 2023 “Generation of Independence” grant, Ainur Polatova, took part.

According to Kairat Kambarov, supporting young people is one of the key priorities of state policy. To this end, a number of programs and projects aimed at supporting talented youth are being implemented.

One of them is the “Daryn” State Youth Prize, established in 1992. The award is presented in 10 categories, including Literature, Science, Design and Visual Arts, Journalism, Classical Music, Public Service, Sports, Theatre and Cinema, Estrada (Pop Art), and Folk Art.

To date, more than 360 young people—including those who have achieved success not only in Kazakhstan but also abroad—have received this distinction.

Over the years, the laureates of the “Daryn” Award have included outstanding athletes who have brought international recognition to Kazakhstan—such as Olga Shishigina, Serik Sapiyev, Daniyar Yeleusinov, Dinara Saduakassova, and Denis Ten; prominent cultural figures Amanzhol Altaev, Aigul Imanbayeva, Dosymzhan Tangatarov, Maria Mudryak, Dimash Kudaibergen, and the groups “MuzART,” “Zhigitter,” and “Ulytau”; as well as noted scientists like Maxim Zdorovets and Maksat Zhabagin, and distinguished journalists Gulnaz Alimgerei, Makpal Zhumabay, and Irina Ten.

This year, applications for the “Daryn” Award will be accepted from June 26 to August 27. The winner receives the title of “Laureate of the Daryn State Youth Prize,” along with a certificate, a badge, and a monetary award. Beginning in 2024, the prize amount has been increased to between 600,000 and 1,000,000 tenge for each category.

In addition, since 2021, as part of the President’s initiative to support creative youth, the “Generation of Independence” grant has been awarded annually. The grant amount is 3 million tenge.

The grant is awarded on a competitive basis for the implementation of projects in six areas: Science, Culture, Information Technology, Business, Media, and Volunteering. To date, 123 innovative projects by young professionals have received support. Citizens of Kazakhstan aged 14 to 35 are eligible to apply. This year, applications will be accepted from June 16 to August 18.

Furthermore, within the framework of the State Youth Policy Concept of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029, regional “Generation of Independence” grants are also provided.

In 2025, according to local executive bodies, 277 regional grants are planned to be awarded from local budgets. It should be noted that the number, size, and focus areas of the grants are determined by local administrations.
